Jesus is Lord - JUST SAY “YES, LORD!”

John 5: 1 – 9

A great number of disabled persons lay by the pool of Bethesda for healing. When an angel of God would come down to stir it, the first to get into the water would be healed. Now, a man who had been invalid for thirty-eight years kept on waiting and never had the chance, for each time the water was stirred someone else could always go down ahead of him. When Jesus came to the place and asked him, “Do you want to get well?” The invalid man did not answer ”Yes,” but instead he complained, “There is no one to help me into the pool…”

Many times in our difficulties, we forget that Jesus can help and will help us in His own special way. We focus on the way we want our difficulties to be solved, and we complain too. We look for sympathy, and we look for human assistance. We pity ourselves and focus on our problems instead of saying “Yes” to Jesus. At times when there is no one around us who can encourage us, let us not forget that Jesus is always there. His question, ”Do you want to get well?” is digging our inner desire to get well, the pure desire that can be obscured by bitterness and discouragement. His next statement is, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!”

Jesus does not want us to wait forever for that assistance that we complain for. Man can fail us, but Jesus never fails. Jesus is here to heal and to give life.

Just say “Yes, Lord, it’s you that I need.”
