Prophecy & Tongues

Is your spiritual gift speaking in tongues?  Is your spiritual gift prophesy?   Are you using your special gift to edify the body of Christ?  Spiritual gifts glorify God and build up the body of Christ.

The Corinthian believers were so impressed by their spiritual gifts that they lost their perspective and forgot the purpose of these gifts given. Spiritual gifts should not be used only to make ourselves feel good, but it's main purpose is communicating with God and for God.

1 Corinthians 14:2-4
"For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.  But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.  He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church".

Kingdom building! Amen....

Fellowship With Our Lord and One Another

Living in fellowship with God means that we will have joy.  However, pride causes us to forfeit that joy when we hide our own sin.  We cannot be in a right relationship with God unless we live humbly, honestly and dependently on Him at all times.

1 John 1:5-10
"This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us".

Think about what activities in your life need forgiveness, confess them and pray for deliverance from every sinful activity from your life.

The Day of the Lord

Do you look forward to when our Lord will return?  Today, choose actions that will be pleasing to Him and words you would want Him to hear.  Make decisions He would approve.

~2 Peter 3:10-13~
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.  Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the element will melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells". Amen....

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven, Not on Earth

Matthew 6:19-21
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
In this scripture it makes reference to temptation that we as believers face.  Being like the world we seek treasures on earth.  We seek to find comfort and satisfaction in temporary things instead of developing a personal relationship with our father in heaven.  Ask yourself, where are my treasures?  "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".

Be Patient and Persevering

James 5:7-11
"Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord.  See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.  You also be patient.  Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.  Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.  Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!  My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.  Indeed we count them blessed who endure.  You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord; that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful".

Be encouraged by His words.  Amen.

Not Carnality But, Christ

In the book of Colossians, Paul provided the church with guidelines for proper conduct.  Paul needed to remind the Colossians whom they served.

~Colossians 3:1-11~
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.  Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy filthy language out of your mouth.  Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

And the Lord has already blessed the reading of His word.  Amen!

A Happy Heart

~Proverbs 15:13;17:22~
A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken....A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Amen!

Renew Your Spiritual Vitality

The people in the book of Hebrews needed encouraging as some faced persecution.  They were suppose to follow the perfect example of Jesus, who overcame many difficulties.

Jesus is our perfect model of faith.  He obeyed God even to the point of His death.

As you go through your difficult times, look for joy through it all. Think about how others can benefit from your struggle.  Look beyond your pain and find God's purpose for your struggle.

Read; "Psalm 126:2, Luke 15:5 and John 15:11"

May grace be with you.  Amen.

By Faith We Understand

Faith is more than a belief in God.  It is also the way of life.

~Hebrews 11:1-3~  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed  by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible".

Do something that demonstrates your faith.  For faith with no effort is no faith at all.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

In the books of the gospel  the disciples who lived and worked with Jesus were his close friends for three years.  As Jesus predicted His death, He shared it with his disciples and they were saddened and afraid to hear Him talk about leaving them.  Jesus tried to help His friends to see the bigger picture, that God had a purpose and a plan. The Holy Spirit was sent to complete several purposes among both believers and non-believers, including pointing out sin and allowing people to understand the truth.

The work of the Holy Spirit seals you.  When you accept Christ, God sealed you with the Spirit.  Believing, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise "Ephesians 1:13".  When those fiery darts seek to destroy you and to diminish your faith in God, the seal turns them away.  He has bought you; God paid too high a price to leave you unguarded.  Therefore, He protects you.  Your Father has no intention of letting you fall.

Read John 16:1-33
