Everybody on Earth Needs a Good Bath

Ezekiel 36:25-27 (New Living Translation)

25 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put My Spirit in you so that you will follow My decrees and be careful to obey My regulations.

There is nobody on Earth like God. Only He can deliver us from idols. I don't know about you, but I've had many idols booted out of my life by God over the last 29 years and I'm so glad.Hallelujah! God HATES idols. Anything or anyone that we put more of our trust in than God--or anything or anyone who we worship or just can't do without is an idol. Let's go deeper, in addition idols can also be considered as someone or something that we need as we pray or worship, an aid if you will. If you need a statue or a picture to help you pray or worship God then umm..that's an idol. Stone images and pretty paintings have no life in them and therefore cannot give life let alone give a new heart and God's Holy Spirit. Only God has the love and power to clean us, wash away our sins, give us His Spirit, and new heart. I'm so thankful to God for that and I'm so grateful that on this journey God continues to bathe us through His Word. Ephesians 5:26

Idols will always try to contend for the throne of our hearts but only 100% devotion to God and reading God's Word daily will keep them from succeeding. Nobody deserves our pure worship and devotion like Jesus, because Jesus is Lord!

Let's Remember, Jesus is LORD!!!

God Deserved Our Time & Attention ~

In the world we live in today, it is very easy to get so incredibly caught up in all of the demands that culture places on us that we don't have any time to spend with God.

However, the fact that so many things compete for every person's time isn't new to the world. Indeed, in Luke 10:38-42, we see the story of how two people responded to this same problem in two very different ways: As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. ...

We see that after Jesus entered the home, He evidently started teaching, and Mary, Martha's sister, stopped what she was doing and listened to Jesus. It's important to realize that Mary didn't know Jesus was coming, and so it certainly wasn't her plan to stop what she was doing and sit at His feet, listening to Him. However, Mary considered hearing from God so important that she altered her schedule to spend time with God.

... But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" Here, we see that Martha responded very differently than her sister: she became really busy and caught up in what she was doing -- probably preparing a meal, cleaning the house, or something similar.

When Martha complained to Jesus about how Mary was using her time, Jesus responded: "Martha, Martha, ... you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

One sister was willing to drop everything in order to hear from God; the other was too busy with everyday life in order to spend time with God. Jesus makes it clear that the way Mary chose to use her time was better.

In your life, you need to be willing to use your time like Mary did. Don't let little things steal your time away from what's really important in life. You must realize that there is no lasting value to the "urgent" things many people often allow to interfere with what's truly important. It would not have mattered if Martha hadn't cleaned the house that day.

You need to be willing to let your schedule be altered if knowing God better requires it. Don't be like Martha and get so caught up in life's distractions that you miss Jesus.

Jesus the Savior NOT the Entertainer

Isaiah 61:1-3 (21st Century King James Version)

Isaiah 61

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek. He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn, To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.

Do you ever sit back and think about why Jesus came when He did, and why He preached how He preached? He came during a simpler uncomplicated time period, and His preaching was simple, powerful, and pure.
Jesus drew people because He preached in demonstration and power. The Bible says He made of Himself of no reputation. Jesus didn't need to promote Himself or His ministry. Phil.2:7
The depraved, desperate, and ones needing deliverance saught Him out because of the power of His word and the compassion of His heart. Jesus used word pictures that were relevant to the times but not over the top. He spoke clearly about the Kingdom of God, Heaven and Hell, sin, and the devil. He spoke about fisherman, farmers, athletes, etc.. to prove His points. He spoke as the Savior, the Son of God, the Son of Man, The Word and on and on. There was nothing ever sensual or entertaining about His ministry or style, He gave the world what they needed--the Truth and He gave it in simplicity. One thing about the times we live in is that the demands on our time are greater and that sometimes results in our attention spans are prone to becoming are short. Sometimes we want what we want quickly and with as many bells and whistles as we can stand, is anything wrong with lights, cameras, and action of course not, but the problem arises in how we respond when those things are not present or are present and don't work. Can you still press through when the sound goes out during praise and worship, or what if the dry ice doesn't get blown in the right direction as scripted? Do we need to be relevant in this time period absolutely, but we need to also by mindful to keep our attenion focused on Christ and not on the toys that may or may not be available whenever the Gospel is presented. One thing is true, if you have to be entertained to accept the Gospel chances are you will have to be entertained to stay with the Gospel. Be thankful for all the creative ways there are to present the Gospel, but keep yourself from relying on them to entertain you. Church services or just someone talking to us on the street about Christ should captivate us because of the Word being preaced or spoken and not so much in the presentation as a whole. written by Marva Johnson

An Acceptable Sacrifice

Romans 12:1 (Amplified Bible)

I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

WHEW!!! That's a whole lot of meat up in that verse. First Paul says in view of all the mercies of God present your bodies asliving sacrifices. Selah. We could stop right there. What has God done for you since you accepted His Son as Saviour? Peace, protection, provision, vision, fresh forgiveness? God is saying in view of all that I have done and continue to do for you all I ask is that you present to Me, your bodies as a living sacrifice. He doesn't want to have to go round us up like wild horses into the corral. He wants us to come and serve Him, and love Him freely. This presenting reminds me of going to church on Sunday. We get up, get dressed, go and serve in some cases. WHY? Because we love Him and we want to present ourselves before Him. Now here goes the living sacrifice part. Praise and Worship. Does the worship leader have to prime the pump to get you to worship your Heavenly Father? I should hope not...in view of all His mercies. Here the Father is asking us to present ourselves LIVING sacrifices! In the temple those animals being offered up were lively! They had some life in them and that's what God wants out of our reasonable service to Him too! PASSION!!! There is no sacrifice as stale as someone doing something for the LORD with no fire in their belly.

It is hard to offer anything genuine up to the LORD with passion if it has not been seasoned in holiness. A lamb without blemish is what used to be offered up. Jesus has now become our sanctification and we have our part in that as well. It's called dying to flesh. Fully acceptable to the LORD is what God requires which is our reasonable service. God could have put so many demands on us in view of all His mercies, but He didn't. His requests are reasonable, His yoke is easy and His burden is light. This week as you live as LIVELY sacrifices unto the LORD rejoice and move with passion in holiness. That's an acceptable sacrifice to the LORD.
