LORD of Suffering

I don't know about you, but I have never experienced living in Heaven in God's presence, majesty, or splendor. I have never walked on streets of gold or been apart of the Godhead where all power, wisdom, wealth was at my command? I have never been apart of the process of creating a world, or a bird. I don't know what it must feel like to think about a human and instantly speak him or her forth do you? Jesus does. The Bible says He learned obedience through the things He suffered. I'm sure this is referring to the cross but what about before the cross? If my child had to be born in a feeding trough and experience such hatred from men for doing divine things such as forgiving people's sins and healing people, I would consider that a form of suffering wouldn't you? Yet Jesus suffered for us in more ways than one while He walked the earth. Then He took the wrath of God for our sins, He reaped a harvest that WE had sown and in all that it is said that He learned obedience through the things He suffered. We are in a glorious battle, a gory battle, a victorious battle. We persevere, we experience set backs, we gain ground, we sin and lose ground then through the Blood we gain back that ground plus some...we suffer hunger in some parts of the world, we are persecuted and ridicules for our faith. We endure some horrific attacks from the enemy in our lives, on our jobs, we witness our children being atacked and we suffer while serving as saints of the Most High. Whatever you are going through today....learn obedience from it. Learn to obey God no matter how hard things in this life may get. Learn to die to the flesh so that the will of God may be manifested. Learn to die so that others may learn how to truly live.

Show Your Pastors Some Love In October!

I'm just sitting here reflecting on church tonight and I must say I'm thankful for my Pastors Ray and Nakia Johnson. They are so caring, inspiring, accessible, and REAL!
Saints of God October has been designated as "Clergy Appreciation Month" and I think it is appropriate to honor those awesome Shepherds that watch over our souls joyfully! I'm not a Pastor nor do I have any aspirations of becoming one, but I can tell you this I've been in close enough proximity to know --THAT calling is NO JOKE! There are people issues, devil issues, battles, tricks, traps etc...and yet they continue to serve us joyfully while holding tightly to God's unchanging hand.
There are 10 days left so if you haven't showed your Pastor(s) some love you still have time.
Don't know what to do? Always pray for them, that is needed and welcomed I think more than anything else we could do besides serve faithfully in the house, but if you can do more then do it! Truly they endure much, sacrifice much, and love much. I'm sure your Pastors are like mine worthy of "double honor" so keep them covered, get a card, get a card and put a gift card in it, or maybe do that holy handshake thing when you go up front and slip him/her secretly whatever you can. It's not the amount given but the heart behind the amount. Appreciate your Pastors because God does, and we should too (-:
Got a shout for your Pastors? Post it!!!

A Little Dab Won't Do Ya!

Growing up I used to hear a saying, "A little dab will do ya!"
Well that might be true for some cleaning products or some cooking spices, but when it comes to God's Word we need an abundance of it daily!!! We as Christians are bombarded with all kinds of darkness and temptations every day. We also happen to live on a fallen planet where a lot of people have their own set of internal standards. That's why God's Word is so important, it's the only way to success God's way, check out Joshua 1:8! As we read it daily, meditate, even memorize God's Word we are being lead, kept, and transformed! Saints of the Most High we need more Word in our daily diet! It's not enough to hear a couple of sermons through out the week no, we have to eat from "God's Holy Buffet" daily so that we will stay under the influence of the Word, instead of the influence of the world.
May we encourage you to open the Bible up today? Read a chapter or two, maybe even a book or two, memorize a verse, then stop and apply it to your life. Make some changes today! Make some things right with those you have wronged today, extend some mercy to somebody today, forgive and accept forgiveness, leave that parking spot up front for somebody else today, encourage somebody, get rid of some tv channels, get rid of some phone numbers, delete some folk from FB that are leading you in the wrong direction. WHEW!!! God's Word is the way to go, so go ahead eat all of God's Word that you want, eat so much of it that you get addicted to it. Anybody else hungry for the WORD????!!!

When the Enemy Speaks Pt 2

Happy Wedenesday to you! We have been blessed with another day and I'm so thankful what about you?! Well last week the LORD took me to Isaiah to strengthen me. I was in the heat of the battle and feelings of despair and discouragement were heavy on me as the devil taunted me with his wicked words. As we read last week the king of Assyria was trying to break the people's spirits with his bold, threatening, insulting and even deceptive words to the Israelites. Afterwards King Hezekiah humbled himself and prayed. Now I'm in a battle, but not because I'm living a sinful lifestyle. I'm under attack because like you I'm a Christian and we ARE in a war. If the devil can break us down,( which he will not by the way) then he doesn't just derail us, he derails everybody we've ever ministered to and the ones we've yet to minister to. So God tell the king to give the king of Asyyria a message and can I tell you OUR God is ALL THAT! He comes right back at the king using some very "in your face" statements for space sake I will post a few, but check out OUR GOD!!!
Isaiah 37

21Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

22This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

23Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

29Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

33Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

34By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

35For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake

It hate to say no matter what you are going through because it sounds callous to me so I will say it this way, what you are going through may be difficult but YOUR God, the Most High God is going to come through for you and the enemy will be turned back...again!!! Be encouraged and rejoice, for OUR deliverer has seen and heard and is on the MOVE for His own sake!!! HALLELUJAH!!!

When the Enemy Speaks--Your Response is Critical

Isaiah 36:4-10 (21st Century King James Version)

And Rabshakeh said unto them, "Say ye now to Hezekiah, `Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
say, thou sayest (but they are but vain words), "I have counsel and strength for war." Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, in Egypt, whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him. But if thou say to me, "We trust in the LORD our God," is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, "Ye shall worship before this altar"?
Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them. How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
And have I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said unto me: "Go up against this land, and destroy it."'"

Today the devil decided to taunt me, he tried to discourage me with lies and tried to rock my faith in my Father's love and concern for me. Immediately God took me to Isaiah 36 & 37. It starts off with the enemy- King Sennacherib's threatening words to King Hezekiah and all of Israel. I'm not a military person but this truly seems like some sort of military tactic. Try to break down the heart of the people by putting them in fear and then when the army comes in there won't be much resistance. Then he tries to make them feel stupid for trusting in God, Pharoah and he attempts to make them feel inferior by commenting on the size of their army, and of course he so called word of the LORD. There are times in our lives when the assault is so intense, when the devil shoots off his mouth and touches our circumstances. Depending on where you are will determine your response. Today the Father saw and heard what the enemy was trying to do to me. I refused to give in, feel sorry for myself, or doubt God. God in His love took me to Isaiah and I was strengthened, I was empowered and I told the devil YOU ARE A LIAR!

Next week let's be encouraged together as we hear what happened next and how King Hezekiah reacts, and how God responds to both the King of Assyria and King Hezekiah. Keep your head up saints of God---GOD IS FOR US!!!
